John Travolta may testify at Bahamas trial

Officials in the Bahamas say John Travolta is among potential witnesses in the trial of two people accused of trying to extort $25 million from the movie star.

Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez says the trial is expected to begin with jury selection Monday.

An ambulance driver and a former Bahamas senator allegedly targeted Travolta after his chronically ill son died at a family vacation home in the Bahamas in January. Police say they demanded the money in exchange for not publicizing a private document related to the treatment of 16-year-old Jett Travolta.

Paramedic Tarino Lightbourne and former Sen. Pleasant Bridgewater have pleaded innocent to charges including conspiracy to commit extortion.
