Jackman 'turns down offer to host Oscars'

Hugh Jackman has reportedly announced that he will not be hosting the 83rd Academy Awards.

Jackman, who led the ceremony in 2009, turned down an offer to host again after the awards show conflicted with his shooting schedule for X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2, writes Deadline.

This year’s Oscars will be held on February 27, 2011. Shooting for the highly-anticipated X-Men sequel begins in late February or early March, which prevents Jackman from hosting.

Jackman was also asked to present the 2010 show, but declined as he did not want to take on the honour twice in a row. Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin shared the job instead.

The Academy has yet to announce this year’s host, though Betty White is allegedly a top-runner. Nominations for the 83rd Academy Awards will be announced on January 25, 2011.
