Kutcher hospitalised after copying Steve Jobs fruit diet.

Ashton Kutcher has revealed that he was hospitalised after taking on Steve Jobs' 'fruitarian' diet.

The 34-year-old actor, who is playing the late co-founder of Apple in new biopic 'jOBS', was speaking at the Sundance Film Festival, where the film was premiered.

“First of all, the fruitarian diet can lead to, like, severe issues,” he said.

“I went to the hospital like two days before we started shooting the movie. I was like doubled over in pain. My pancreas levels were completely out of whack. It was really terrifying… considering everything.”

What he was likely referring to was the pancreatic cancer which Jobs died of in 2011.

Kutcher, who has cited Jobs as a personal hero, also explained how he studied hundreds of hours of footage of the entrepreneur to nail down his mannerisms for the part, saying it was 'one of the most terrifying things I've ever tried to do in my life'.

“He's a guy that failed and got back on the horse,” he said. “I think we can all sort of relate to that in some place in our life where we are moving forward with something and we fall down. You have to have the guts to get back up and go again. I think I share that as well.”

However, reviews for the film so far, which also stars Josh Gad as Jobs' partner Steve Wozniak, have been somewhat cold, many finding it failed to humanize Jobs while focussing instead on his skills as a businessman, which are widely documented.
