Depp to star in Warcraft movie?

Johnny Depp is apparently being sought after to star in the big-screen adaptation of the World Of Warcraft computer game, according to rumours.

Film studio Warner Bros reportedly wants the Pirates Of The Caribbean star, who has apparently played the game, to take the lead, reported Heat Vision blog.

Moon and Source Code director Duncan Jones has signed up to sit in the director's chair for the long-developing movie, which Sam Raimi was previously attached to.

"So the gauntlet was thrown down ages ago: Can you make a proper MOVIE of a video game. I've always said it's possible. Got to DO it now!" filmmaker Duncan tweeted.

The story, which has been kept under wraps, has been rewritten by Blood Diamond's Charles Leavitt from an original screenplay penned by Saving Private Ryan's Robert Rodat.

Producers Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are eyeing a production start date in the autumn, for a 2015 release.

Johnny, who was last seen on-screen in Tim Burton's Dark Shadows (2012), will next star in Gore Verbinski's Lone Ranger, The (2013) and is also set to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the fifth instalment of Pirates Of The Caribbean.
