Indianapolis's Heartland Film Festival, which honors "filmmakers whose work explores the human journey by artistically expressing hope and respect for the positive values of life," has selected Disney's Remember the Titans to receive its Heartland Award of Excellence this year.

Festival president Jeffrey L. Sparks said that the award will be presented at the conclusion of this year's festival, scheduled to run between Oct. 18 and Oct. 26.
