NICOLE KIDMAN has been confined to her Spanish hotel bed after doctors warned her not to put any weight on her injured knee.

Kidman first strained her knee during filming of MOULIN ROUGE this summer (JUN00), and, after treatment from top doctors, the Australian actress was hoping to put the injury behind her.

But Kidman, now in Spain shooting her latest film THE OTHERS, has been given strict instructions not to walk on the injury if she wants to avoid surgery. Kidman's ailment is reportedly causing havoc on the set of the star's movie, the tale of a women whose two children suffer from an illness leaving them unable to go into the sun, as cast and crew hope Kidman will soon be able to walk again.

Spokeswomen for Kidman KATHERINE OLLAM says, "Nicole first hurt her knee in the summer while shooting Moulin Rouge. I am not a doctor so I would not like to speculate on how serious it is but she has been told to stay off her feet. "This has interrupted filming to some extent but we are all just hoping she will get better soon." (SXH/WN/RGS)
