Movie beauty MEG RYAN has claimed hunky GLADIATOR RUSSELL CROWE was not to blame for her split with husband DENNIS QUAID.

The WHEN HARRY MET SALLY star admitted this summer (JUN00) to a steamy affair with the New Zealander - but insists her nine-year marriage, now the subject of a divorce suit, to fellow actor Quaid had broken down before her adultery. She says, "The reasons we broke up have nothing to do with another person. My marriage was broken - nobody else broke it up. "I know it to be true and Dennis knows it to be true. "Neither of us are cavalier about the break-up. We both behaved very honourably. He never cheated on me."

Whilst Ryan has finally broken her silence on her split - she says the circumstances of the break-up will never be fully disclosed. She adds, "The real reasons for it will always be speculation because I'll never talk about what went down - and neither will Dennis." (CPT/WNTEX/PDD)
