Lucas' Star Wars chats with Abrams.

J.J. Abrams has been in constant contact with George Lucas about the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII, Jett Lucas has revealed.

George, who remains a creative consultant on the Star Wars saga after he sold the franchise and Lucasfilm to Disney last year, was "very torn" on letting go of the series, his son Jett said.

"He's constantly talking to JJ. Obviously JJ was handpicked. He is there to guide, whenever, he'll help where he can. At the same time, he wants to let it go and become its new generation," he told Flicks And The City.

JJ is set to direct Episode VII, which is scheduled for a release in 2015.

Jett, who hinted he may have an uncredited involvement with the production, revealed he would like to see Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher return for the seventh instalment.

"It would be awesome. I mean, who doesn't want to see Han Solo cruise through on the Falcon again?" he said.

"But at the same time, maybe he's teaching his son how to drive on it. It would be great to see them don the costumes. I would nerd out."

Jett said the new trilogy is in safe hands with the Star Trek filmmaker.

"I already know what's going to happen. I'm happy with what is going to happen. JJ is extremely talented and between him and the guidelines my dad has set, I have no doubt that the next three movies are going to be great," he said.
