The final movie starring actress Brittany Murphy is to be released – more than four years after her death at the age of 32.

'Something Wicked' wrapped just months before the actress died from pneumonia and severe anaemia in December, 2009.

It will receive its premiere on April 4 in Eugene, Oregon.

The film's writer and producer Joe Colleran to the New York Daily News: “It is an additional responsibility, you do want her performance to be the best it can be, because unfortunately it's her last performance.

"The first months of reviewing the footage and starting to put things together and then seeing her and hearing her voice, it's very emotional."

The film, a thriller about an engaged couple with a dark secret, had to have parts re-shot following Murphy's death, with the filmmakers battling to bring her final project to the screen.

"It has been an extremely protracted process, but here we are," added Colleran. "She just hit it out of the park. You can see why she was a celebrity and a star."

There has been much speculation around the death of the actress, star of films including 'Sin City' and 'Girl, Interrupted'.
