Astin: I'm up for Goonies sequel.

Goonies star Sean Astin has revealed he would happily return for a sequel.

The 43-year-old actor, who played the group's ringleader Mikey Walsh in the 1985 adventure, said he would have no doubts about reprising his role in the highly anticipated follow-up.

"I certainly like the idea of doing it. I don't know if I'd be in it or not. If they really wanted us to be in it, I'm sure there would be some way to work it out," he told E! News.

Richard Donner revealed a sequel is in the works, and how he hopes to bring back the entire cast, as he spoke to TMZ.com.

Sean, who currently stars in TV series The Strain and played Frodo Baggins' friend Samwise Gamgee in Peter Jackson's Lord Of The Rings films, admitted he is hopeful about a second film.

"My first thought when Dick said he was doing that was like, 'Alright, maybe this time it's true!' I hope it's true. It'll happen, whether in my lifetime or not," he said.

Josh Brolin, Martha Plimpton and Corey Feldman starred in Goonies, The (1985), which followed a group of friends in Oregon as they embark on a treasure hunt.

Sean revealed he's already been in touch with Corey about the film, adding: "We talk a lot. Corey and I are buddies. He's fired up. He's ready to go."

He teased that the film could focus on the children of the original gang.

"I think that's what they want to do. I think they want to focus primarily on the kids. I think the audience may be split on that, so they're trying to figure it out," he said.
