Ryan Gosling is in talks to star in Disney’s supernatural family movie "The Haunted Mansion" with Guillermo del Toro directing and producing.

"The Haunted Mansion" has been in works at Disney for the past five years and is based on the popular attraction at the Disneyland theme park. Del Toro unveiled the project at Comic-Con in July, 2010 — a mere seven years after the release of the Eddie Murphy comedy of the same name, which grossed $180 million worldwide.

D.V. DeVincentis is working on the script for the film, which del Toro said in 2010 would not be a comedy. "If you take the children, they will scream," he said at the time.
