Biography

Ewan McGregorEWAN McGREGOR's (Christian) performance in the BAFTA award-winning
SHALLOW GRAVE (1994) brought him to international attention, closely followed by acclaim for his starring role in the cult hit TRAINSPOTTING (1996). McGregor also starred in the same team's LIFE LESS ORDINARY, A (1997). His most recent lead film performances have been in Stephen Elliot's EYE OF THE BEHOLDER (1999) as Obi-Wan Kenobi in George Lucas's STAR WARS EPISODE I: THE PHANTOM MENACE (1999) and as James Joyce in NORA (2000) for Natural Nylon, the production company in which Ewan, Jude Law, Jonny Lee Miller and Sean Pertwee are partners.

McGregor has also starred in VELVET GOLDMINE (1998), LITTLE VOICE (1998), BRASSED OFF (1996), Emma (1996) PILLOW BOOK, THE (1996), BLUE JUICE (1995), NIGHTWATCH (1998), and his film debut,BEING HUMAN (1993). He is starring once more as Obi-Wan Kenobi in STAR WARS: EPISODE II (2002).

McGregor left Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1992 to make his singing and dancing debut in Dennis Potter's international hit for Channel Four, LIPSTICK ON YOUR COLLAR. His other television appearances have included the lead in Ben Bolt's BBC-TV adaptation of Stendahl's
classic SCARLET AND BLACK, AVANAGH QC, and an episode of ER for which he was nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series at the 1997 Emmy Awards. His most recent stage performance has been in David Halliwell's LITTLE MALCOLM AND HIS STRUGGLE AGAINST THE EUNUCHS for director Dennis Lawson at Hampstead and the Comedy Theatre.
