Dustin Hoffman was born on August 8, 1937 in Los Angeles, California and actually moved away from Hollywood to New York to pursue a career in acting. After appearing in a number of Broadway shows, Hoffman had a career-making performance in 1967's film "The Graduate." In 1969 Hoffman cemented himself as a star after appearing in the movie "Midnight Cowboy:" Hoffman went through the seventies with both hits and misses, but the eighties saw him once again conquer Hollywood with such movies as "Rain Man," "The Death of a Salesman," and "The Merchant of Venice." In the nineties he starred in much higher budget movies such as "Outbreak," "Wag the Dog," and "Hero," and today Hoffman's star still shines bright.
