Girlfight (2000) is Michelle Rodriguez's feature film debut. Found at an open casting call in New York City, Rodriguez was one of 350 hopeful actors who were considered for the lead. She had never boxed before the film.
Now living in Jersey City, she divided her childhood between the Dominican Republic, Texas and Puerto Rico. Rodriguez trained for five months with a professional boxing coach in preparation for her role as the angry and fearless Diana Guzman.
Since Girlfight (2000) Rodriguez has landed roles in Lee Davis' 3 AM (2001), opposite Danny Glover and Pam Grier and produced by Spike Lee and Universal's "Redline," directed by Rob Cohen and starring Vin Diesel and Paul Walker.
She aspires to be an action hero.
