Jill Bilcock - Details

Biography

JILL BILCOCK was nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Editing for WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE'S ROMEO and JULIET (1996) (on which she was also an associate producer). Bilcock began her collaboration with Baz Luhrmann as editor of his film debut, STRICTLY BALLROOM (1992), winning an Australian Film Institute Award (AFI) for Best Editing and a BAFTA nomination. Her most recent credits include ELIZABETH (1998), for which she was again nominated for a BAFTA; DISH, The (2000) for director Rob Sitch (CASTLE, The (1997)); HOW TO MAKE AN AMERICAN QUILT (1995) and IQ (1994).

Bilcock edited the acclaimed Australian features MURIEL'S WEDDING (1994) and HEAD ON (1998) (for which she won an AFI for Best Editing). Other film credits
include CRY IN THE DARK, A (1988), EROTIQUE (1994) and TEMPTATION OF A MONK (1993).

In 1995, Bilcock was awarded the Byron Kennedy Award by the Australian Film Institute for her rigorous and passionate contribution to all of her projects, in particular to the films of first-time directors.
