Jason Statham is back as the cagey shark-killer in Warner Bros.' sequel to its 2018 hit.

Production on "Meg 2: The Trench" has kicked off with a splash at Warner Bros. owned Leavesden Studios outside London, where the Harry Potter and Batman franchises were also shot.

Along with Jason Statham returning to the lead role of rescue diver Jonas Taylor, a number of other notable cast members have been added to the cast list.. The Gifted actress Skyler Samuels, Rambo: Last Blood's Sergio Peris-Mencheta and Resident Evil’s Sienna Guillory are all on board for the action film.

Sergio Peris-Mencheta, who faced off against Sylvester Stallone in Rambo: Last Blood, is set to play one of Meg 2’s villains, who is described as a “hard-edged” mercenary. Skyler Samuels, who has also notably worked with Ryan Murphy for Scream Queens and American Horror Story, will play an “adventure-loving member” of Statham’s submarine crew in The Trench. Lastly, Guillory, who played Jill Valentine in three Resident Evil movies, is going to play the head of an applied sciences division in the movie.

Screenwriters Dean Georgaris, Erich Hoeber and Jon Hoeber have also returned for the mega-shark’s big screen second outing as have producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Belle Avery and executive producer Catherine Xujun Ying.

Statham will next be seen in “The Expendables 4” and Guy Ritchie’s “Orson Fortune,” in which he plays a private contractor hired to stop a billionaire arms dealer from selling a deadly new weapon that could potentially destroy the world. He is also set to star in “The Bee Keeper,” written by “Salt” scribe Kurt Wimmer.
