Lindsay Lohan shared confirmation about the Freaky Friday reboot starring her and Jamie Lee Curtis.
Speaking to Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM show, Lohan verified that the long-awaited sequel for Freaky Friday is in the works, with co-star Jamie Lee Curtis set to return as well. "Lindsay, there are rumors that a Freaky Friday sequel with you and Jamie Lee Curtis could be in the works," Cohen asked. "Is there anything you can tell us about that?"
"It is," Lohan confirmed. Cohen then asked about a potential timeline for the sequel, but Lohan couldn’t give anything away. "I won’t say that yet, I don’t want to say too much! We’re both excited — I’m going to speak for Jamie," Lohan told Cohen.
Before Disney greenlit the sequel, Lohan and Curtis repeatedly expressed interest in reuniting for another Freaky Friday movie, with the latter stating in October 2022 that she was "creatively wide open" to the idea. While story details for Freaky Friday 2 haven't been divulged yet, Curtis has pitched a possible angle for the follow-up, saying, "Let me be the grandma, let me be the old grandma who switches places, so then Lindsay gets to be the sexy grandma who’s still happy with Mark Harmon in all the ways you would be happy with Mark Harmon. ... and I would like to see me try to deal with toddlers today. I want to be a helicopter parent in today’s world."
Freaky Friday is based on a 1972 novel by Mary Rodgers about a mother and a daughter whose bodies are switched following a magical Chinese fortune cookie. Curtis and Lohan were the mother-daughter duo, with Harmon playing Curtis’ fiancé in the film.
Lindsay made her big-time return to the movie business in 2022, when she starred in the Netflix film 'Falling for Christmas'.
She made a cameo appearance in the recent 'Mean Girls' musical revival, while she is taking the lead as Madeline 'Maddie' Kelly in upcoming Netflix fantasy romantic comedy.
