'The Sims' Movie in the Works with Margot Robbie and 'Loki' Director Kate Herron.

Barbie's Margot Robbie is partnering up with Loki director Kate Herron to bring The Sims to life on the big screen.

Kate Herrnon, who helmed the first season of Loki on Disney+, is on board to direct the film, and is also co-writing the screenplay with Briony Redman.

Margot Robbie's production company, LuckyChap, will produce the film adaptation following the immense success they had with Barbie.

The Sims movie is described as a hot package that is now getting shopped to studios and streamers, and it remains to be seen where it will ultimately land. As the project is still in its early development, there are no cast members or plot details have yet been revealed. As for how The Sims will translate into a feature film, time will tell, though perhaps it could be done in a clever way that acknowledges the tropes of the game.

At the moment, it is not clear if Margot will also star in the movie. She has previously hinted at plans to "disappear" for a while after Barbie's success.

Barbie was the highest grossing movie of 2023, taking in more than $1 billion in the box office. It was nominated for many awards, including Best Picture at the 2024 Oscars earlier this month.
