'Chicken Run: Dawn Of The Nugget' to world premiere at BFI London Film Festival.

Aardman animated feature Chicken Run: Dawn Of The Nugget will have its world premiere as a Gala screening on Saturday, October 14 at the 67th BFI London Film Festival.

Additionally, Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget will screen in film houses across the UK, with the sequel’s Netflix global premiere set for December 15, 2023.

In the film, having pulled off a death-defying escape from Tweedy’s farm, Ginger has finally found her dream – a peaceful island sanctuary for the whole flock, far from the dangers of the human world. When she and Rocky hatch a little girl called Molly, Ginger’s happy ending seems complete. But back on the mainland the whole of chicken-kind faces a new and terrible threat.

The voice cast includes Thandiwe Newton, Zachary Levi, Bella Ramsey, Imelda Staunton, Lynn Ferguson, David Bradley, Jane Horrocks, Romesh Ranganathan, Daniel Mays, Josie Sedgwick-Davies and Nick Mohammed.

In June, Phil Lord said that he and Aardman co-founder Nick Park had discussed various ideas for a sequel to Chicken Run over the years but finally found the idea for Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget during a brainstorming session with the original film’s writer Karey Kirkpatrick. Here’s how: "We came up with the idea that if in the original they were breaking out, this time they would be breaking in."

With the London Film Festival having last year screened the world premiere of Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, which went on to claim the Oscar for best animated feature, Academy favorites Aardman should be hoping that the festival proves to be a similarly successful springboard (while the original Chicken Run missed out on the 2001 awards, it is said to have led to the creation of the best animated film Oscar category, which was added in 2002).
